Jemaa el Fna/ Marrakech at Night

The main square in Marrakech is a shock and awe assault on your senses. The crowd swells into the thousands, without relent. There aren’t as many women as men–women don’t seem to go out at night–men who are either eating, walking around in pairs, or gathering around street entertainers. Imagine a hundred and more individual foodstalls, and every single one of them possessing a salesman who would konnichiwa you and hassle you to eat at his stall.

Oishii! Konbanwa! Chinese? Japanese? Korean? Jit Lee? Jackee Chan? Vietnamnese?

The trick, as always, is to keep walking.

Unidentified bits of the lamb head was the first dish I tried. I also took a risk on the orange juice, which was great.

Fried fish in various styles.

No self respecting photographer would show a picture taken with dirty lens, but I’m no photographer, so I don’t care. Bottom right–bruchettes, or skewered meat.

Couscous.
